If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're in one of the hardest in-between places a physician can find themselves in.
You've done the work. You have a medical degree. You understand medicine at a level most people never will. But right now, the path forward in the United States feels narrow, uncertain, or just… stuck. Maybe you've applied to residency and are weighing what to do while you wait — or while you regroup. Maybe you're starting to wonder whether residency is even the right road for you. Maybe you're simply exhausted by a system that seems to have one approved route and treats every other option as a consolation prize.
I want to be honest with you: I'm not going to tell you that pivoting away from residency is easy, or that one of these alternative pathways will hand you everything you hoped medicine would bring. What I will tell you is that the U.S. healthcare ecosystem is far larger and more varied than the residency match process suggests — and that internationally trained physicians are building genuinely meaningful, well-compensated careers across research, industry, policy, writing, education, and health innovation every day. The goal of this course is to show you that landscape clearly, without the spin.
I designed this mini-course because I kept seeing the same gap: IMGs who were intelligent, driven, and highly capable, but who had almost no structured, honest information about what their options actually were. The internet offers fragments — a LinkedIn post here, a Reddit thread there — but nothing that walked through each pathway with real depth, addressed licensure honestly, and then helped you figure out which direction made sense for you specifically. That's what I built here.
What you'll get is a grounded tour of more than a dozen realistic U.S. career pathways, a clear breakdown of what each role actually involves day-to-day, a frank discussion of what credentials and entry points look like, and — critically — a structured worksheet process to compare your options and land on a personalized action plan you can start executing. No fluff, no false promises, no one-size-fits-all answers.
Your medical training is not a sunk cost. It's a foundation. Let's figure out what to build on it.
I'm glad you're here.
