Our undergraduate internship program offers students the opportunity to experience in various medical specialties. The goal for the year is to get to know the US healthcare system while you prepare for your USMLE STEP 1 and observe in different specialties. The program typically lasts for 1 year, depending on your med school requirements. There’s also a chance to do the hybrid program if your medical school allows it.
Interns will have the chance to rotate through different departments, including but not limited to: Internal medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Hepatology, Oncologic Emergency Medicine** , Oncology, Cardiology and Anesthesiology.
Our social service research year allows participants to engage in meaningful research projects while serving the Latino community. During this year your goal will be to make a meaningful relationship with your mentor, to continue building your competitive Resume and to study to pass USMLE STEP 2 at the end of the year. The research year typically lasts for 1 year depending on your medical school.
During a whole year you will be in a research clinic with your mentor working in research clinical trials.

The LATIMGS Academic Program aims to build your CV during your undergraduate internship and social service year to create a competitive resume for the MATCH process after your social service. As of today, 100% of our students have passed USMLE STEP 1 during their undergraduate internship. By the first year, they have added at least 6 US clinical rotations to their CV, published at least 2 papers, and have had excellent networking opportunities.
